Unusually well-connected for its size
- U-Tapao airport is right there — Ban Chang's defining logistical feature. A growing international and domestic airport (and the EEC's designated aviation hub) minutes from town;
- The motorway to Bangkok: the Eastern Seaboard's excellent road links put central Bangkok roughly two hours away and Suvarnabhumi within reach;
- High-speed rail (planned): the EEC's flagship rail project is designed to link the three airports (Don Muang–Suvarnabhumi–U-Tapao) — a future game-changer for the town (the EEC);
- Pattaya is 30–40 minutes west; Rayong town a similar hop east.
Getting around locally
- Songthaews and local shared transport cover the town and run toward neighbouring centres — cheap, if you learn the routes;
- Ride-hailing and taxis operate but are thinner than in the big cities — arrange returns;
- Your own wheels (car or scooter) are the realistic answer for living here — with the usual Thai motorbike-safety caveats (licence, helmet, defensive riding);
- Airport runs are trivial given U-Tapao's proximity — one of the genuine perks of basing here.
