Orientation guide to Ban Chang's areas: the beachfront strip, the town centre, the roads toward U-Tapao, and the residential estates spreading along the way out of town.

Reading the town's layout

Ban Chang isn't zoned into distinct, named tourist districts the way a resort city is — it reads more like overlapping bands running from the coast inland, each with its own character. Knowing the shape of it helps whether you're choosing where to stay for a few nights or where to settle for good.

The bands, coast to inland

• The beach frontage: Hat Phala and Nam Rin — restaurants, some guesthouses, the town's evening social gravity (the beaches);
• The town centre: a few streets back from the sand — markets, shophouses, banks, schools and the everyday services that make the town function (practical info);
• The corridor toward U-Tapao: the roads and pockets of housing nearest the airport, useful for shorter commutes into airside or EEC-adjacent work;
• The outer estates: newer housing developments spread along the roads leaving town, generally quieter and more residential, aimed at the settled professional and retiree market (housing).

Choosing a base

• Want the beach and the social scene on foot? Stay or look near the Phala/Nam Rin frontage;
• Want quiet and space, don't mind a short drive? The outer estates suit better, especially for families or long-term settling (schools & families);
• Working at the airport or nearby industry? The corridor toward U-Tapao trims the commute (the EEC);
• Just visiting for a few days? The beach frontage puts everything worth seeing within easy reach.

A town still finding its final shape

Because the EEC and U-Tapao's expansion are actively reshaping the area, some of this map will keep shifting — new housing tends to follow new roads, and new roads tend to follow the big infrastructure announcements. Treat this as orientation, not a fixed plan, and see the EEC & U-Tapao for the forces driving the change.
